Six Saints circa Holt is a Church of England parish located in the beautiful Welland Valley. As part of a rural community our aim is to provide support during these difficult times.
This additional website has been set up to provide up to date information during the pandemic.
Queen Elizabeth II
1926 - 2022
The Parish of Six Saints circa Holt is deeply saddened by the passing of our Supreme Governor, Her Majesty the Queen. Our thoughts and prayers are with all members of the Royal Family at this time. She will be remembered for her selfless service, her warmth and strength in leading our nation. Her life was an example to us all.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
A Prayer on the death of Her Majesty The Queen
Gracious God, we give thanks
for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
for her faith and her dedication to duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death
and may her example continue to inspire us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

OUR STORY
Behind the Scenes
During the pandemic The Parish of Six Saints circa Holt, has been committed to providing resources to support our community. Since March 2020 we have acquired new skills and searched for new ways through which we can come together as church. Not everyone has access to social media and this has proved to be an obstacle which we need to overcome. The purpose of this website is NOT to replace the current website, rather instead to supplement it with a point of contact for the ever changing world in which we now find ourselves.
Just imagine what we can achieve together!
How We Are Adapting

ORGAN RECITAL
Ivan Linford
Last year Ivan Linford had planned to put the newly refurbished organ in the church of St Giles, Medbourne through its paces. However, due to a second wave of Covid, sadly we had to postpone in order to keep our community safe and well.
We are now delighted to announce that thanks to the development of a vaccine and falling rates of infection we are now able to go ahead with our long awaited recital. The hugely talented Ivan Linford will finally be able to put the organ through its paces to include works by Bach, Buxtehude, Messiaen and Thalben-Ball.
There will be no charge for admission and light refreshments will be available.
Donations welcomed.
Please note if you reserved seats for the originally planned recital last year please look out for an email invitation and RSVP as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Seats will be offered on a first come first serve basis so please book early.
Looking forward to what will be a very special evening to celebrate the refurbishment of the organ in St Giles' Church Medbourne!

BREAKING NEWS
Sunday 4th July - Lammas Service
3pm Rectory Farm
Great Easton
by kind
permission of Philip Johnson,
Lammas, or loaf mass, is a Christian festival (with pagan roots) which we revived in Great Easton the
Summer before lockdown after Centuries of absence. Historically, as part of the celebration, the first fruits
of the harvest - the first grains - were made into a loaf which was brought to church and blessed, and
prayers were said for the rest of the harvest. Processions also took place. As part of the pagan celebration,
handfasting, marriage in which the hands of the couple were tied together with strips of cloth, could take
place. Though there were no marriages in our 2019 celebration(!), there was an echo of handfasting as we
joined hands together (in those heady days before social distancing) as a congregation as a sign as our
belonging together as the body of Christ and sang. The children also led a procession around the church
that year, playing instruments and making a joyful noise as they went.
Though the festival was celebrated on August 1st by tradition, changes in the cycle of modern farming, and
approaching school holidays mean that nowadays, in 2021, we are celebrating Lammas earlier. All ages are
welcome for this enjoyable event.

PRAYER
From The Church of England
Dear God,
Be with us as we think about all that has changed this year,
And help us to trust that you are always with us.
Be close to us as we remember those who have died,
And help us to trust they are at peace with you.
Show us how to reach out to others with kindness and care,
So that hope shines out in every heart and home,
Amen

Community Matters
ONE YEAR ON
The Parish
Loving God,
You hold all our times in your hands, our past, our present, our future. Be close to us now as we remember all the difficulties and disappointments of the past year. Be especially close to all of us who are thinking of someone we loved and knew, but see no longer, whether family, friend, colleague or neighbour. Help us to trust that they are at peace with you, and comfort us with your presence.
Connect
Loving God,
You place us in families and communities, and we give you thanks for all those around us who serve us and help us in so many ways. Give wisdom to community leaders, to our schools, hospitals, care homes and other agencies who make a difference to our lives. Help each of us to have the courage to reach out with thanks and kindness to those around us and to speak words of faith as we share the good news of your love.
Hope
Loving God,
As we journey towards Easter, help us to live as people of hope, knowing that beyond the pain of the cross lies the joy of resurrection. Inspire us in our worship, through our churches and in our homes, that we may bring glory to you and joy to others. Be with those who are struggling in mind, body or spirit, and give courage to those who are facing uncertainty and change ahead. Help each of us to keep our eyes fixed on you, that we may reflect your light to all whom we meet.

REMEMBRANCE
Lest We Forget
REMEMBRANCE
Lest we forget
Uniting faiths, cultures and backgrounds from across Britain and the Commonwealth, we come together to remember the service and the sacrifice of the men and women of the Armed Forces.
GET INVOLVED
Across Our Parish
With the latest restrictions coming into force on the 5th November, we are unable to come together for our Remembrance Sunday Communion Service. However, there are a number of ways we can still 'Come Together'. Perhaps we could consider displaying a poppy in our windows? Observe the silence at 11am.
